The Superstition Area Land Trust (SALT) is a LAND TRUST:  a private, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization that, as all or part of its mission, actively works to conserve land by undertaking or assisting in land or conservation easement acquisition, or by its stewardship of such land or easements. Land Trusts focus on a non-adversarial approach to conservation, working in cooperation with landowners, ranchers and government agencies. Funding comes from individual donations, endowments, bequests, corporate sponsors, grants and foundations. Conservation can be accomplished through property transfers, voluntary conservation easements by landowners, or purchase of parcels recognized as important to the community. SALT is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the natural Sonoran Desert open spaces surrounding the Superstition Wilderness Area through education, advocacy, ecological/scientific research, stewardship, land acquisition and federal and state land conservation.
